Dylan Thomas (1914 - 1953) is a Welshman who during his lifetime conquered first England and then the whole world with his work. The masterful finishing and unique sound of the verse made him one of the most notable poets of the twentieth century, causing controversy and introducing a new spirit into literature. He was called the most mysterious and inexplicable poet. A poet for intellectuals. All the greats of the second half of the twentieth century raved about his poems. Thomas's childhood was spent mainly in Swansea, as well as on a farm in Carmarthenshire that belonged to his mother's family. These trips to the countryside, and their contrast with city life in Swansea, became the basis for much of Thomas's work, especially his short stories and radio plays. Welsh folklore and mythology were also an important source of inspiration for the writer.
