San Francisco's Japantown is shaken: an entire family has been shot. The criminal left no traces except a piece of paper with a hieroglyph. Jim Brody, the owner of a private detective agency and an expert on Japan, is brought in to investigate the brutal crime. He recalls that the same hieroglyph was inscribed on the house where his Japanese wife died under mysterious circumstances several years ago. Is there really a connection between the crimes?
