Sergey Tigipko was born in 1960 in Moldova, graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute in 1982, and held senior positions in the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Komsomol Committee. Since the early 1990s, he went into business and was one of the founders of the financial and industrial groups “Privat” and “TAS”. Worked in the government of Ukraine, headed the National Bank. Since 2007 - Chairman of the Board of VAT Swedbank (successor of JSCB TAS-Kommerzbank). In 2009, Sergei Tigipko left all positions, completely focused on political activities and intends to run for the post of President of Ukraine.
