In 1934–1935 N.K. Roerich organizes a large scientific expedition to Northern China and Inner Mongolia. During this time, he wrote more than two hundred essays for the Diary Sheets, which formed the contents of the first volume of this publication. Whatever issues N.K. Roerich touched on (and the range of topics in his essays is immense), the main theme for him is the spiritual, moral improvement of man, the connection of human life with the Great Laws of the Cosmos. His essays are reflections on the past, present and future of humanity. The philosophical heritage of N.K. Roerich is unique. It is a source of true spirituality for our contemporaries.
