In the story “Test to Break,” an employee of the Special Committee Dyatlov sets up a cruel experiment to transform his pupil, who has superpowers, into a deadly weapon against “children of patronage” like her, the harbingers of the coming evolutionary transformation of humanity. The events of the story “Selgon Continuum” unfold among the gloomy swamps, where a helicopter with the leaders of Bratskgesstroy makes an emergency landing, with whom a brilliant scientist wants to settle scores, whose invention threatens the existence of the Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station. In the story “I, Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station”, the famous poet Eduard Yevtushkov arrives at the construction of the largest hydroelectric power station in the Soviet Union on behalf of the State Security Committee to create a large poem about its construction and builders, which involves him in a series of very strange, fantastic and even mystical events.
