Christopher Columbus was what Lev Nikolaevich Gumilev called passionaries. It would be interesting to trace the formation of this internal passionarity. What contributed to Columbus's great purpose? Upbringing? personal example of his parents (this seems doubtful if his father was really a weaver)? Or did he become this way not thanks to, but in spite of his upbringing and the influence of the reality around him? All these questions remain unanswered. The richest scope for the imagination of biographers.
