The book by the talented and little-known Russian-Ukrainian poet and prose writer Leonid Chernov (1899–1933), close to the Imagists, included a collection of poems, “The Trade Union of Madmen,” published by the author in Vladivostok (1924). L. Chernov's prose is represented by the adventure-fantasy story "The Adventures of Professor William Vox on the Island of Tsipango", translated into Russian for the first time - a funny parody of "colonial" novels. But the protest against colonialism only masks the Rousseauian views of the author, who condemns the entire modern civilization.
