For the first time in Russian - a piercing psychological drama by one of the brightest prose writers of modern Scandinavia, Dane Jonas Bengtson (“Letters from Amina”), which served as the basis for a new film by Thomas Vinterberg (“Celebration”, “All About Love”, “Dear Wendy”) - co-author of the acclaimed film manifesto Dogma 95, which he wrote together with Lars von Trier. The film “Submarine” was included in the official program of the Berlinale festival 2010 and received a Scandinavian Film Academy Award. Two teenage brothers live with an alcoholic mother and are forced to look after another family member instead - a newborn baby, whom the mother forgot to even give Name. It is not surprising that this leads to tragedy. Years later we see its consequences. The older brother still feels guilty for what happened; he has just been released from prison, lives in a hostel for similarly lonely people and drives away the ghosts of the past with the help of alcohol and exercise in the gym. The younger brother has succeeded even more on the path of self-destruction - due to heroin addiction, he could at any time lose custody of his six-year-old son, social services issued a final warning. Having no hope for a bright future, each of the brothers will still find their way out of the impenetrable darkness of the present...
The sensational novel is not for the faint of heart.
