The proposed study is devoted to the study of the life and works of one of the most remarkable pastors and theologians of the 3rd century, Saint Dionysius the Great, head of the Alexandrian Catechetical School and Bishop of Alexandria in 247-264. An enlightened defender of Christian doctrine from the attacks of pagan philosophers, an unbending guardian of the purity of Christian truth from the distortions to which it was subjected in the false teachings of heretics and schismatics, St. Dionysius became especially famous for his wisdom in governing the Church and guiding believers on the path to moral improvement and eternal salvation. According to the immutable judgment of the Church, he was the first to receive the name of the Great, which fully corresponds to his actual significance in the history of Christianity.
