“The Big Nest” is the third book from the tetralogy conceived by the author about the Vladimir prince Vsevolod the Big Nest, about Rus' at the end of the 12th century and the urgent need of that time for the unification of isolated principalities, to end civil strife on the eve of the Tatar-Mongol invasion. In the first two books ( “The Heroic Field” and “The Fiery Border”) tells how Vsevolod, who pursued a unification policy, subjugated Rostov the Great and Kyiv; the third book tells how he managed to conquer Veliky Novgorod - he defeated the boyar freemen.
