Learing death, Victor Barentsev, better known as Onyx, appoints Cain Innocent as the second man in his empire - Minister of Defense and Admiral of the First Fleet of the Union of Independent Worlds, and thereby places enormous power and military strength in the hands of his most trusted man. However, Cain is cleverly removed from real power, sent to the Casablanca system in order to ensure its defense from a possible invasion of the Confederacy. But, despite all the obstacles, Cain must continue the work of Onyx and protect humanity from a possible threat from Aliens. An unclear threat that no one but him believes in.
