The story takes place in our days. A successful writer has a house on the ocean, calls himself a lighthouse keeper, and works in solitude on a new book. One day the connection with him is interrupted. His former co-author, having received a strange email warning, is forced to go in search of the missing man. Along the way, he meets a biker who will initially become his guardian angel, a blind boy who sees prophetic dreams, finds the head of a kidnapped rear admiral... Then events take an even more mysterious and frightening turn. In the “keeper's house” of the symbolic lighthouse, uninvited guests are visited by the dead, dreams of the past that are too similar to reality, a woman who is ready to do anything for revenge, who has been waiting in the wings for many years. How do we pay for success, love or the delusions of youth? What do we choose – life or its semblance? What might it take to find, if not consolation in old age, then at least a little peace? And is consolation and peace possible when the crew of a ghost ship goes ashore? After all, each of those sentenced to eternity, it turns out, needs a “replacement” on land in order to have time to finish earthly affairs. And it seems that the main thing among these matters is retribution.
