When asked why we baptize a child, they usually answer without thinking: “Because we are Orthodox!” - and of course there is nothing to object to. But after this, three new questions inevitably arise: - Why are we Orthodox? - What does it mean to be Orthodox? - Why do Orthodox Christians baptize infants? This is what will be discussed in the first conversation with the priest on the threshold of the temple where you brought your little one to be baptized son or daughter. Those who themselves came here wanting to be baptized can, of course, also participate in it. One way or another, the answers to these questions should be as clear to everyone as three burning candles over the baptismal font.
