The adventures of the famous detective, the hero of Conan Doyle, are followed with excitement by millions of people - readers, and now movie and television viewers. The total circulation of books by the English writer Arthur Conan Doyle about Sherlock Holmes, the most famous detective in literature, is approaching two hundred million. However, besides the famous Sherlock Holmes, there is also an “unknown”. Some part of the classic “Holmes” cycle was unlucky - the translators ignored it. This mainly applies to the later stories, which, by the way, Conan Doyle himself considered the best. The story “The Incident at Wisteria Lodge” offered to readers was written in the early years of the 20th century and was published in 1907 in the Strand magazine. Its first translation into Russian was completed soon - in 1909 and published in the form of two separate stories in the book “The Tiger from San Pedro”. Since then, this story has not been published and is practically unknown to the Soviet reader.
