Yuri Pavlovich Kazakov (1927–1982) is a master of psychological short story, a successor of the Russian classical tradition, whose prose gained worldwide fame in the second half of the 20th century. I. Kuzmichev’s book is full of memoirs and documents; in it, in accordance with the requirements of the “Life and Fate” series, 130 Cossack letters, a number of unique photographs and several Cossack stories are placed in the Appendix.
