After the Great Cold, which Ivan and Eva experienced with a group of people underground, they go to nowhere, turning, like the rest of the survivors, into tumbleweeds. Civilization has collapsed, a person cannot sleep alone and dies unless someone wakes him up. Loners exhaust themselves, fighting sleep, turning into unconscious, dangerous cranks. The danger is posed not only by slave-capturing gangs, but also by rats and feral dogs. It is because of them that people cannot stay in one place for a long time and are forced to move. And when Ivan and Eva notice strange signs left by someone unknown, the question arises: do they lead to salvation or into a trap?
