The 4th volume of the Collected Works of A. M. Remizov includes stories and novels from the pre-emigrant period of the writer’s work: “The Hours”, “Sisters of the Cross”, “The Fifth Plague”, “The Weeping Ditch”, which simultaneously present real, and phantasmagoric pictures of life in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. The stylistic features of modern prose are combined in them with the traditions of Russian classical literature. The novel “The Weeping Ditch” (1914-1918) is published for the first time as a complete work based on a typesetting manuscript from Remizov’s archive.
