In a small nineteenth-century Welsh town, there is no one quite like the wayward Morgana. The girl is mute, and her silence is a mystery, as are her magical abilities. But she is still young and inexperienced, and therefore can expose herself and put herself in danger. Thoughts about magic must be forgotten, but how to do this? The mother decides to marry the girl off. Kai, a young widower and owner of the Finnock-Las estate, inspires fear in Morgana. She cannot imagine how she will live with this cold and rude man. He won’t understand her at all! But gradually the ice between them melts, and love arises. But happiness doesn't last long. A terrible epidemic hits the village: livestock die, people get sick. Who is to blame for this? Morgana understands that another witch is behind the monstrous troubles and there is only one way to defeat her - by ceasing to hide her magical powers.
