The appearance of the Mongols on the political map of the medieval world was so unexpected that many perceived the new contenders for the redistribution of earthly space as God's punishment. The Muslim countries of Central Asia were the first to be horrified by the collision with them. Next, God's punishment sent a blow to Eastern Europe, and now Christians cried out. They seemed like God's punishment to both Europeans and Asians, since they themselves stood, as it were, outside the religious game, professing Tengrism. They created their Great Empire, but in the end there was absolutely nothing left of it. Century after century they retreated further and further - from Eastern Europe, from Central Asia, from India, from China: having tightly sealed other people's borders, they rolled back. From the palaces of the Central Asian and Chinese khans, from the palaces of the Great Mughals, they returned to nomadic cattle breeding, to yurts and the steppes. God's punishment set the boundaries of the world, and she returned to her homeland. This amazing history of the Mongols will be discussed.
