In 2010, when the centennial anniversary of the death of L.N. Tolstoy was celebrated, the topic of his departure from Yasnaya Polyana again aroused great interest, and not only in Russia, but also in the world. So, in 2009, the film “The Last Resurrection” was shot with Helen Mirren and James McAvoy. Many publications have appeared devoted to the last months of Tolstoy’s life. This book is based on the 1910 diary of the writer’s wife. Sofya Andreevna Tolstaya lived with L.N. Tolstoy for almost half a century; for many decades she was the center of a crowded and happy Yasnaya Polyana life. But 1910 became the most difficult year in the history of the relationship between the brilliant writer and his wife: it was the year of a spiritual collision between two close people, and it led to Leo Tolstoy’s secret departure from home. Essentially, behind the dramatic pictures of the Yasnaya Polyana battles of that year, there arises a dispute about the meaning of life, in which the entire Tolstoy circle was drawn in. In order to convey the full depth and ambiguity of the unfolding events, the book publishes testimonies of other family members and people close to L.N. Tolstoy.< /p>
