The story was written in 2002 during the scientific work of Denis Aleksandrovich Grachev at the Institute of Slavic Studies in the Dutch city of Groningen. Creating a doctoral dissertation devoted to the problems of the image of the author in Soviet prose of the 20-30s, Grachev somehow captures part of his scientific thoughts in this short text with a sarcastic “dedication to plot prose.” The bizarre literary phantasmagoria takes place in the early 2000s. Timofey, a six-year-old boy, follows his Desire to Mikhnevo near Moscow, fearlessly communicating with infernal entities along the way.
