In 1994, McKagan barely survives a ruptured pancreas as a result of alcohol and drug abuse. After 13 years in GnR, he left the group to start a family and pursue an education at Seattle University. He creates the groups Loaded and Velvet Revolver, and briefly performs with Alice in Chains and Jane’s Addiction.
