Alexander Kabanov (b. 1968 in the city of Kherson) is a Ukrainian poet living and working in Kyiv, writing in Russian. Author of 10 books of poems and numerous publications in magazines and newspapers: “New World”, “Banner”, “October”, “Continent”, “Friendship of Peoples”, “Arion”, “Novaya Gazeta”, “Literary Gazette” and others. Winner of the Russian Prize, the Antologia Prize for the highest achievements in modern poetry, the New World magazine prize, the International Voloshin Prize, etc. His poems have been translated into Finnish, Serbian, Polish, Georgian and other languages. Alexander Kabanov is the editor-in-chief of the magazine about modern culture "SHO", coordinator of the International Poetry Festival "Kyiv Lavra", one of the founders of the Ukrainian slam. "In the Language of the Enemy: Poems about War and Peace" is the eleventh book by Alexander Kabanov. It includes new poems written in 2014–2017, as well as selected texts from the collection “The Magi in the Planetarium” (published by the Folio publishing house in 2014). The key semantic thesis of the poet’s new book: “Language is not to blame. People are always to blame..."In addition to the collection "The Magi in the Planetarium", the Folio publishing house published the books "The Whole" (2008) and "Happy Abyss to You" (2011).
