Written in 1975, the memoirs consist of two parts: the first half is about the playwright’s personal life and his love affairs; the second is about creativity and torment. As the author himself admits, the book is written in the form of a “flow of free associations” and is a “catharsis of the Puritan feeling of guilt.” The book is written about those things and in a language that cannot but evoke admiration and understanding of both the depth of the writer’s personality and his skill.

Ця книга стала для мене справжнім катарсисом, адже автор зумів передати свої почуття так, що читач відчуває їх на собі. Рекомендую всім, хто цінує глибокі роздуми про життя, кохання та мистецтво!
