For three centuries now, in any Chinese bookstore you can find a collection of stories by Pu Song-lin, in which amazing stories await the reader: about were-foxes, about sorcerers and ghosts, about strange animals, cursed mirrors, talking birds, paintings coming to life and about much, much more. In fact, Pu Song-ling's books have long since crossed the borders of China and are now read all over the world in all major languages. Their author was a scholar of Confucian education, and, strictly speaking, it was not at all appropriate for him to write stories containing all kinds of miracles and erotic motives. However, Pu Sung-ling became famous for precisely such books, becoming the most famous Chinese writer of his time. The basis for his work was folk parables, but over time, the author's stories themselves turned into folklore and were passed on from mouth to mouth by simple storytellers. This publication publishes various stories of Pu Sun-lin in wonderful translations by the sinologist philologist Vasily Mikhailovich Alekseev, with detailed notes .
