In the mid-1960s of the twentieth century, the Minister of Fisheries of the USSR A.A. Ishkov first involved the author in solving difficult fishing issues in the Barents Sea that arose at that time with neighboring Norway. And this first touch of fishing diplomacy was productive. Subsequently, V.K. Zilanov was lucky enough to repeatedly, as part of Soviet and then Russian delegations, defend domestic interests in the field of fisheries in various areas of the World Ocean and with various countries. In the course of almost 50 years of activity in fishing diplomacy, work experience was accumulated, certain relationships were established with leaders of a similar direction in foreign countries. All this is outlined in the new book by V.K. Zilanov.
