Anatoly Mariengof (1897–1962) is a poet, prose writer, playwright, one of the brightest figures in Russian literary life of the first half of the century. His memoir prose remained unknown to the reader for many years. Only in the last decade has it begun to be published, but only in parts, and never in a single volume. But he considered the three parts of his memoirs (“A Novel Without Lies”, “My Age, My Friends and Girlfriends” and “This is for You, Descendants!”) as a single whole and even gave this book a title that did not take place during his lifetime - “Immortal trilogy". For the first time, Mariengof's memoirs are presented to the reader as the author intended. And the brilliant style, keen observation, vivid imagery of language, stories about legendary personalities in the history of our culture (Yesenin, Meyerhold, Kachalov, Stanislavsky and many others) truly allow us to consider Mariengof’s trilogy immortal.
