About the innocent friendship of an unfortunate boy, hidden from life by his father, and their gardener.

The story takes place in Spanish Catalonia. British diplomat Harrington Brand moves here with his son Nicholas after the collapse of his marriage. He believes that his boy is too gentle to go to school, in addition, he forbids him to communicate with anyone other than him, including having ordinary friends.
