The American writer Andre Norton, the “great lady of science fiction” of the 20th century, has written more than 130 books. Critics, alas, were in no hurry to support her, and she herself was too modest a person to make her way to the pedestal. Nevertheless, her talent shone so brightly that it did not go unnoticed. In our country, the name of the writer became known after the release of the novel “Sargassy in Space,” brilliantly translated by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. And in 1963, a book called “The Witch World” was published in the United States, creating one of the most famous fantasy worlds in the history of the genre. Retired Colonel Simon Tregarth, fleeing persecution, finds himself in a parallel magical world - and in a whirlpool of the most unexpected adventures. Life in Estcarp is full of magic, intrigue and danger, but Tregarth’s talents are put to good use here...
