In the 30s of the last century, forced settlement of the distant borders of our vastness began in the Soviet Union. They were populated by both seasoned criminals who had served time in camps and the capital’s intellectuals. Some, no longer restrained by law and morality, became bloodthirsty predators, others, despite everything, retained their human appearance; some cared about universal salvation, others only about their own; some humbly swam with the flow of fate, others, resisting it, were broken on the rocks. But they all fought for life - for life on the island of Death.
