With the blessing of His Eminence Sergius, Archbishop of Ternopil and Kremenets, “Glory to You, who showed us the light!” These were the last words of Schema-Archimandrite Panteleimon (Agrikov), who reposed in the Lord on November 16, 2000. He is known to the Orthodox reader by his monastic name Tikhon (before acceptance of the great schema) as the author of a wonderful book about the Trinity-Sergius Lavra “Inspired at the Trinity.” Father Tikhon went through life as the Savior commanded - without leaving any special material traces, unlike modern “theologians”, with their personalized websites and TV channels. We could not find even a more or less detailed biography of the archimandrite. All that remains are the warm memories of his contemporaries, the brilliant training courses taught at the Moscow Theological Academy, the memory of which has been fresh for decades. What remained were the amazing sermons of Father Tikhon, lofty in spirit and artless in form, in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, listening to which no one could hold back tears of tenderness or repentance. And also - books typed on a typewriter, reproduced in an artisanal way, often at great risk, and lovingly bound. This is how a person usually prepares something necessary for a long journey. It was from such a book that this publication was prepared. A front-line soldier, teacher at the Moscow Theological Academy, resident of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Father Tikhon became a living testimony to the correctness of the words of the Apostle Paul: “... all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim. .3, 12). Schema-Archimandrite Panteleimon endured severe trials and persecution in his life; the enemy never gave him peace. The ascetic spent many years in seclusion in the Caucasus mountains.
