In the age of widespread information technology, the preaching of Christian values is not limited to the church pulpit. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' calls on us, using the media of mass communication, to witness to the world about Orthodoxy everywhere. And in this missionary service, a special role belongs to the employees of the diocesan press services. I hope that the methodological instructions that you are holding in your hands, prepared by the Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate with the assistance of the Synodal Information Department, will help church specialists in the field of public relations to establish constructive cooperation with the media information and will contribute to the formation in society of a good attitude towards the Russian Orthodox Church. Barsanuphius, Administrator of the Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan of Saransk and Mordovia Modern people have many questions related to the life of the Church. Very often people try to find answers to these questions with the help of the media. This means that the Church must be able to answer them correctly and professionally. In preaching the Gospel, Orthodoxy is guided by its own thousand-year experience. In communicating with representatives of the press, in order to be understood, we must use the rules accepted in the world of media. The goals and objectives of the diocesan press service, communication with secular journalists, information work on the Internet - all these issues are addressed in the joint development of the Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate and Synodal Information Department, which you are holding in your hands. I am sure that the information presented will help the workers of the diocesan press services to increase the level of their knowledge in order to more effectively carry out their service to the Orthodox Church.V. R Legoida, Chairman of the Synodal Information Department of the Moscow Patriarchate
