God and the devil are two hands of a single Divine consciousness, revealing the endless possibilities of the reality of the Universe. One “hand” is God, leading all things from one perfection to another, greater perfection. The other hand is the devil, seeking to delay the movement of all things towards perfection. And for this, he uses in man those features that must be abandoned or transformed on the path to Divine truth. A person who lives in the interests of the material world perceives the efforts of the devil as temptations, all kinds of desires that he seeks to satisfy. God and the devil “pull a person in different directions,” and which side a person chooses for himself largely depends on himself. It should be remembered that the temptations offered by the devil are always more attractive than the path of effort and sacrifice leading to Divine truth.
