The book “Simonov and the War” is an anniversary edition prepared for the centenary of the author. Consists of three parts. Section one - “Through the Eyes of a Man of My Generation”, the last book dictated by the author in the last months of his life, first appeared in 1989, 10 years after the death of the writer; In this edition, some errors and repetitions have been removed. Section two - “Stalin and the War” - includes materials from conversations with Marshals Zhukov, Konev, Vasilevsky, Admiral Isakov, Lieutenant General Lukin, as well as K. Simonov’s own materials, which, according to the author himself, were not intended for publication in those years ( published for the first time). The third section, entitled “To the best of my understanding,” includes letters from a special folder, mostly unpublished (about poetry; in connection with the creation of documentaries about the war and the film adaptation of his fiction; as well as letters related to attempts to print war diaries , with the restoration or establishment of justice to those who fought).
