The book includes the main works on Freemasonry by the outstanding American lawyer, sociologist and political scientist Roscoe Pound (1870–1964). Encyclopedically educated, having deeply studied both the history of Freemasonry in America and Europe, as well as contemporary psychology and jurisprudence, Pound sought to project new social tasks of the ancient Brotherhood in a changing world, so that its moral and symbolic treasures would not be lost, becoming obsolete, but would participate in the formation of a new world . Roscoe Pound's lectures on Masonic philosophy, history, Masonic jurisprudence and symbolism have been translated into Russian for the first time and are accompanied by an introductory article and comments by the compiler.
