The Silver Age of Russian culture is considered to be approximately the first two decades of the 20th century. But, I think, the Silver Age is a deeper phenomenon, going beyond the boundaries of this chronological heap. The Silver Age is characterized by a feeling of celebration and catastrophe, a premonition of tragedy. But not only – a premonition. The silver of the century melted in the smelters of the great upheavals that befell the country. The participants of the Silver Age carried their creative chosenness through revolution, repression, war, and raised it, this chosenness, to the level of eternal world culture, Greek tragedy and the mighty pathos of the Renaissance. Anna Andreevna Akhmatova (1889–1966) is a poet who took everything from her time and who gave him everything, which is why the series opens with her book.
