“You’re rubbing some kind of sausage into me!” - the TV presenter of the Only Honest Channel shouts to his liberal interlocutor and convinces the audience that he worships the pagan cult of food and comfort. In similar scenes of the Rabelian satire “Zombie,” the writer Evgeniy Dolmatovich recreates a fictional Russia, which, unlike the dying West, continues to prosper stably under the control of “our great leader, Mr. P.” Citizens drive Toyota Kalinas, use Rusphones, “Fotkagram” and “Vdderzhave”, eat boiled noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and employees of RosRABOnadzor vigilantly monitor the well-being of the population. In 11 caustic and ironic inventions , prophetically recorded back in 2017, the prose writer talks about the life of the teenager Vaska in an ordinary Russian family, singing hymns to the leader in schools, the zombie apocalypse in Europe and the sacred mission of Russia, where critical thinking is declared a disease and a thought crime, rapidly falling salaries are wonderful and desirable, and truth is born not in a dispute, but in the cleansing flame of a bloody massacre. The text is accompanied by detailed notes from censors, the migration service, FSB agents, independent political scientists, participants in the “Peaceful Islam” movement and other caring servants of the “democratic autocracy”.
