Leicestershire is one of the quietest and most peaceful places in central England. There are misty sunrises and amazing sunsets here, which are so nice to admire from the window of your own home. Here there are old patriarchal principles and a respectable society leading a measured lifestyle. Lais, a young widow, is accustomed to its routine. After the death of her husband, all her worries come down to raising children and managing a small estate. But then a silent stranger, wrapped in a black cloak, appears on the threshold of her house, an applicant for the position of fencing teacher for her son. He really masters the sword and, to Lais’s surprise, is too educated for a simple teacher. Perhaps this image is just a mask.
