"Os Lusiadas" by Luis de Camoyens is an epic poem of the 16th century, which is considered one of the greatest works of Portuguese literature. In this work, the history of great geographical discoveries and voyages of Portuguese navigators is celebrated. The poem consists of ten books in which the author describes mythological and historical events, including Vasco da Gama's travels and great sea battles. The work is marked by the richness of the language, deep philosophical subtext and mastery in the allegorical depiction of the heroes. The "Wasp of Lusiad" is a symbol of the era of great geographical discoveries, its fame is preserved even today.
