"Bull de Suif" is a short story by the French writer Guy de Maupassant, published in 1880. In this literary masterpiece, the author highlights the problems of morality, honor and social status during the French Revolution. The main character is a simple woman named Elisa Rivol, who is disparagingly called "Bull de Suif" because of her fullness. During a business trip, she finds herself with other passengers in a besieged city under the control of foreign forces, where moral dilemmas and conflicts between characters intensify. Maupassant carefully studies the psychology of the characters, reproducing the subtle nuances of their feelings and actions. A complex network of relationships opens up to the reader, where shades of human nature are revealed in all their beauty and horror. "Bull de Suif" is not only the story of one woman, but also a reflection of universal human values and a demonstration of what thirst for power, anger and greed can lead to.
