The book is dedicated to hegumen Nikon (Vorobiev| 1894–1963), an ascetic of the 20th century, a confessor of the faith of Christ, a famous elder, confessor. Having become a monk during the years of the closing of the monasteries, he labored in the parish until the end of his days. Survived arrest, imprisonment, exile in Siberian camps. He lived like an ascetic, treating himself with all severity, and treating those around him with love. He acquired the unceasing Jesus Prayer and the gift of spiritual reasoning. His advice on spiritual life is based on the patristic heritage and backed up by personal spiritual experience.
