To tie. Torture. Kill. The story of BTK, a maniac in sheep's clothing
after payment (24/7)
(for all gadgets)
(including for Apple and Android)
For three decades from 1974 to 2005, a brutal serial killer horrified the people of Wichita, Kansas. All of his victims - women, men and even children - were tied in complex knots and then strangled. The killer called himself BTK (bind, torture, kill - tie, torture, kill). Under this moniker, he terrorized the area for years and enjoyed correspondence with the police through the local newspaper. When he was finally caught, everyone was amazed: Dennis Rader turned out to be a cruel sadist and strangler - a loving husband and father, a member of the Boy Scouts children's organization, a respected parishioner of the local church.
The history of BTK is unique not only by the personality of the maniac. In the 1970s, when the first high-profile strangler murders began, Kenny Landwehr was a local teenager. The impressionable boy wanted to become a policeman in order to hunt such villains. No one suspected that it was he who, 30 years later, would catch BTK, devoting his entire professional life to this business. Landwehr played cat and mouse with the maniac for years, waiting for him to make a mistake. The meticulously reconstructed police investigation at the heart of the book reveals how difficult it is to catch a serial killer, even if you live in the same city as him.
His story is amazing. America's most elusive maniac. The serial killer who inspired Thomas Harris and Stephen King. The main character of the series "Mindhunter". He encouraged a boy to become a policeman, who caught him 30 years later, devoting his life to this.
“A classic of the true crime genre! This book tells the story of a serial killer, not putting his name and crimes on a pedestal, but plunging into the wilds of a criminal investigation, where cops and journalists work together to stop the evil, and the victims are not just numbers of bloody statistics. Recommended reading for all Mindhunter fans! – Tima and Valya Nazarov, hosts of The Hills Have a Podcast.
