Frederick Pohl (1919-2013) - American writer, winner of numerous awards: Hugo, Nebula, Locus, the John Campbell and Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Prizes ... Being an ardent fan of science fiction, at the age of 19 he, together with Isaac Asimov, Cyril Kornbluth, Damon Knight founded the Futurian Society and began publishing and editing the magazines Astounding Stories and Super Science Stories, which featured many future "monsters" of science fiction. F. Paul's editorial work quickly gained recognition among professionals, but his writing fame came in 1952 with the publication of Space Traders, and since 1972 many awards have followed - both for novels and for small form.

Frederick Paul brilliantly shuffles genres and literary movements: journalism, children's sci-fi, adventure and social science fiction, but achieves the greatest effect by describing pictures of an unsettling "near future", where giant trading corporations completely suppressed the voice of a free individual, and advertising has replaced the inhabitants of the Earth with culture - the world of triumphant capitalism, where The Truman Show meets The Matrix and Dark City ...
