In 2008, Russian citizen and businessman Viktor Bout was arrested by the US intelligence services as a result of a sham operation carried out on three continents and ending in Thailand. Bout was charged with conspiracy against America. During the two years Viktor spent in a Thai prison, his fate was decided as part of a bitter diplomatic struggle between Russia and the United States. After Bout was extradited to New York in 2010, he was kept in solitary confinement, subjected to psychological torture, persuaded to cooperate with US intelligence agencies, and demanded dirt on Russian politicians. The refusal to betray his comrades and the Motherland turned out to be a sentence for Viktor to 25 years in prison, which he is still serving in the United States. and acquaintances, unique photographs from the family archive, Viktor's letters from prison and fragments of his wife Alla's diaries formed the basis of a journalistic investigation of this resonant case, which became a major international scandal.
