Georges Vautier (years of life not established) is a French writer, a contemporary of A. Dumas. This volume publishes the novel "Charlotte", which tells about the events that took place during the reign of Henry of Navarre, known not only his famous phrase "Paris is worth a mass", but also the popular song dedicated to him by Du Corroy about the brave King Henri the Fourth, who had a triple gift: to drink, to fight and to be a gallant gentleman. It is this last gift of a dangerous seducer that is narrated in the novel by J. Vautier. History has preserved the names of fifty-four mistresses of Henry IV. But the strongest, most vicious, most forbidden was Henry's last passion for the young Charlotte de Montmorency, who was then barely fifteen years old.
