"The Dim Lantern" (Ukrainian name: "Muffled Lantern") is a novel by the authors Bailey and Temple, which was published in 1907. This book tells the story of a young woman who faces the challenges and problems of society at the beginning of the 20th century. The main character, feeling the importance of her freedom and individuality, opposes conservative ideas about women's role in society. The authors cleverly use the symbolism of the "muted lantern" to reinforce the theme of striving for inner light and finding one's own path in life. This book not only leaves the reader thinking, but also stimulates him to rethink the standards of society and open new horizons in self-realization.
