To understand why in some societies people easily come together for a common goal, while others fail, economists came up with the concept of social capital, based on three measurable indicators: the intensity of communication, trust and the values of social life. Naturally, if people are connected to each other through diverse channels of communication, trust each other and share values that allow them to take into account the interests of others, the life of their community will be prosperous - and vice versa. What is the specificity of "urban" social capital, explains economist Leonid Polishchuk.
