Wasily Kandinsky is one of the leaders of the European avant-garde of the 20th century, but at the same time he is a true classic whose work determined the development of European and Russian art of the last century. The practical activity of the artist was inseparable from work in the field of art theory: he always sought to formulate and substantiate his discoveries in painting theoretically. Being a widely educated person, Kandinsky had an undoubted literary gift. He talked and wrote a lot about art.
