The book "Sky Dancers" contains the biographies of eleven women who left an important mark on the history of Buddhism. The heroines of the stories lived in India and Tibet during the Middle Ages, when Vajrayana, or Buddhist Tantrism, developed in those cultures. Encountering skillful teachers, women began to practice and through their devotion and diligence gradually reached high levels of knowledge of the nature of the mind. Subsequently, they taught compatriots, wrote philosophical works and manuals on meditation | some even founded their own Buddhist schools that exist to this day.The collection was compiled by a team of European authors based on medieval Tibetan sources and supplemented with reference materials and a glossary.
