1947. Charlie St. Clair, expelled by her family from her native America for a misdemeanor that borders on a crime against decency, arrives in Europe, hoping to find her cousin, who disappeared in France during the German occupation. 1915th. Young Eva Gardiner is eager to fight against the Germans, and suddenly such a chance is given to her. The Intelligence Directorate invites Eva to become an agent in the French territory occupied by the Boches. She will be guarded by the famous Alice, the queen of spies, who manages the intelligence network right under the noses of the Germans. Thirty years later, Eva, weighed down by guilt over the betrayal that destroyed Alice's network, spends her days in a dilapidated London house, trying to drown out despair and pain with alcohol. But one day, an unfamiliar girl breaks her solitude and pronounces a name that Eva has not heard for many years. And from that moment on, the former spy and the former student begin a search that will lead them too far.The novel is based on the true story of the famous Alice network, the most effective intelligence organization operating in France during the First World War. The book contains foul language!

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
